Mexican night is a popular night at most American dinner tables. And why not? Mexican food is delicious, easy to prepare and kid friendly. Transform your dinner table into a mesa de comer in a few easy steps: Use a brightly colored serape as a table cloth and scour your cupboards for colorful dishes. If you're feeling crafty, let the kids help make tissue paper flowers to set the mood for your Mexican Fiesta. Here's how:
Stack six sheets of tissue paper. Fold the stack accordion style into 2-inch folds, pressing to make crisp edges. Cut the folded stack in half width wise. Secure a pipe cleaner around the center of one piece. Cut the corners to round them off. Fan out the folds on one side of the pipe cleaner, gently pulling each piece toward the center, separating the "petals". Carefully fan out the folds the other side of the pipe cleaner, pulling toward the center. Fluff it a bit to create a full blossom. Repeat with the remaining stack of folded tissue paper. Tuck the flowers into a vase or a terra cotta pot or use thread to hang them over the table.
